101 Roses in Dnipro: Price, Weight, Size and How to Give Them

Short answer: 101 roses in Dnipro cost from 11,000 to 17,000 UAH depending on the variety and the format. Why 101

In the Ukrainian tradition flowers are given in odd numbers, and 101 is the upper limit of a gesture that needs no explanation. It is a proposal, a milestone birthday, a big anniversary, the birth of a child, a grown-up apology or a thank-you to someone who changed your life. What other numbers mean is covered in how many roses to give. In short: 51 says ‘you are the one’, 101 says ‘this is forever’.

The price: what goes into it

Variety. A standard red rose (Freedom, Explorer) costs roughly one and a half to two times less than garden roses such as O'Hara or Mansfield Park: premium varieties are harder to grow, fewer per batch and more expensive to ship from Ecuador, Kenya or the Netherlands. That is why 101 red roses cost 12–13 thousand and 101 O'Hara around 17.

Stem length. 50, 60 or 70 cm — every extra 10 cm adds to the price per stem. A hand-tied bouquet needs 50–60 cm; in a box the roses are cut short anyway, so paying for 70 cm makes no sense.

Format. A basket or a box adds the cost of the base and the foam but saves on stem length, which is why Powder Rose Basket 101 costs less than a hand-tied bouquet of long roses.

Season. Before 14 February and 8 March roses get more expensive across the whole market — that is how the auctions and farms work. If the date is known, order a week or two ahead and lock in the price.

Weight and size: what to expect

One rose on a 60 cm stem weighs 50–80 grams with its leaves. So 101 stems are 5–8 kilograms of flowers alone, plus wrapping and water capsules if the bouquet travels far. In a basket with foam it is 8–10 kg, in a box 7–9. A hand-tied bouquet is 45–60 cm across, it is held with both hands, and fifteen minutes of photos with it are felt in the arms. That is not a reason to take fewer — it is a reason to think about where the bouquet goes next.

Hand-tied, basket or box

Hand-tied is the most spectacular handover and the most beautiful dome, but afterwards you need two large vases with wide necks and heavy bases: 101 stems will not fit an ordinary vase and will tip it over. If the recipient has no such vase at home, give one with the bouquet — the decor section has vases made for large bouquets.

In a basket the flowers sit in floral foam with water: no vase needed, the arrangement keeps its shape and is easy to move. The most practical option for an office, a restaurant or a hospital, when nobody can run for a vase. All baskets are in the baskets section.

In a box is the most gift-like presentation: a dense dome of roses with no greenery or wrapping. The stems are short, so a box lives a little less than a bouquet in fresh water, but it is the most recognisable in photos. Boxes are in the boxes section.

How long 101 roses last

In our experience 7–12 days, depending on the variety and care. The rules are the same as for eleven roses, only the scale is different: two litres of water and half a sachet of flower food per vase, trim the stems by 1–2 cm every two days, no radiators and no direct sun. How to arrange the handover

A surprise delivery. The courier arrives at the chosen hour — the end of the working day, a train's arrival, a moment at the restaurant — and calls the recipient only 15 minutes before arriving.
