What to Write on a Flower Card: 60 Short Messages
WTF! What The Flowers florists · Dnipro
For a partner, mum, friend or colleague, for a birthday, an apology or no reason at all — 60 ready-made messages for a flower card, from two words to two lines. Three rules, what not to write, and how to keep the card anonymous.
Short answer: the best card message is short, personal and free of stock wishes like ‘health, happiness and success’. One or two sentences, their name, a detail only the two of you know — and a signature. Below are 60 messages sorted by occasion: use them as they are or as a starting point.
At WTF! a card comes with any order for free: type the text into the ‘Gift card message’ field at checkout in the catalogue and we write the card by hand. If the bouquet is anonymous, just say so — we will not reveal the sender.
Three rules before you write
Keep it short. A card is not a letter. Anything longer than three lines gets skimmed. The strongest messages are under fifteen words.
Be specific. ‘You are the best’ is weaker than ‘Thank you for last night and your laugh that filled the whole restaurant’. A detail only you know is what makes the card personal.
No pressure. Do not make excuses in an apology, do not demand an answer in a confession, do not give advice when offering support. The flowers have already said the main thing — the text only clarifies.
For the one you love
- Every day with you is my favourite.
- Just a reminder: you are the best thing that ever happened to me.
- No occasion. The occasion is you.
- I took ages choosing these flowers. Choosing you took a second.
- A hundred and one reasons, and every one is you.
- May they last long — and I, even longer.
For a birthday
- Happy birthday! May this year be as bright as this bouquet.
- Another year I get to be proud of you.
- Celebrate loudly. The flowers have already arrived.
- Happy birthday, my dear. Wishes in person tonight.
- Flowers so the birthday morning starts the right way.
- May everything you wish for this year come true.
- Today you are as old as the number of roses in this bouquet. We hid the rest.
For mum
- Mum, thank you for everything I never know how to say.
- For the best mum — for no reason, on a Tuesday.
- You taught me to notice beauty. I notice.
- A hug from far away. The flowers are standing in for me until we meet.
- Mum, you are the best. That is not up for discussion.
- For every ‘put on a hat’ and every ‘I am here’.
For a friend
- You are my person. The flowers know it.
- For all our conversations until three in the morning.
- I just wanted you to smile today.
- With you even Monday feels like a day off.
- Hang in there. I am with you, even when I am not next to you.
- You deserve flowers more often. Fixing that.
For an apology
- I am sorry. No ‘but’.
- I was wrong. The flowers are the start; the conversation is on me.
- I am sorry I hurt you. I want to make it right.
- Forgive me if you can. If not, I will understand and wait.
- You matter more than my stubbornness.
- I am not good at apologising beautifully. So I am doing it honestly.
For a thank-you
- Thank you. You did far more than you had to.
- This would not have worked without you. Seriously.
- A small thank-you for a big help.
- Thank you for your patience, your trust and all the advice that came right on time.
- These flowers are the least I can do. The rest I will do.
- For being there when it was hardest.
Get well soon
- Get well soon. The flowers are already here, and I am on the phone.
- A little sunshine for the ward. The rest when you are back.
- Take your time getting better — we have got everything else.
- Let these flowers remind you that people are waiting for you.
- Strength to you. And fewer hospital walls around.
A proposal, an anniversary, love for good
- Will you marry me? (A signature and the date — that is enough.)
- Ten years together — and I would choose it all again.
- Thank you for every year together. More to come.
- Happy anniversary, my love. Still the same guy who used to bring you flowers.
- Our ‘yes’ still stands.
- You are still my best decision.
For colleagues and partners
- Thank you for a year of working together. The next one will be even better.
- With respect and gratitude for the partnership — the (company name) team.
- Happy birthday! May work bring not only results but joy.
- Congratulations on the new role — well deserved.
- Thank you for your trust. Working with you matters to us.
- Happy professional holiday from the team that appreciates you.
From abroad — for family in Dnipro
- I am far away, but I think of you every day. Hugs.
- These flowers travelled less far than my love for you.
- I will be there soon. Until then, some colour for your home.
- I miss you. Let them stand until we see each other.
- Greetings from another time zone — from someone who misses you very much.
- Distance is just a number. The flowers are the proof.
What not to write
Stock wishes in a list (‘health, happiness, success, peace’) — they fit everyone, which means they fit no one. Jokes about age or looks unless you are one hundred per cent sure. Long excuses in an apology. And do not sign with your full name and surname when the recipient already knows who the flowers are from: a first name or an initial is enough.
If the bouquet is anonymous
Write the text without a signature or sign it ‘Your secret admirer’, and tell us in the order comment: the courier will not name the sender even when asked directly. But give the recipient a chance to guess — one detail only you know works better than any intrigue.
How it works, briefly
Choose a bouquet in the catalogue, enter the card text, the recipient's name and the preferred time at checkout. Delivery across Dnipro takes from 45 minutes, daily from 8:00 to 22:00; we send a photo of the bouquet before the courier leaves. Ideas for specific occasions are in the birthday, apology, thank-you and get-well sections.
