Flowers for business: how it works in offices, restaurants and hotels

WTF! What The Flowers florists · Dnipro

What it costs to keep fresh flowers in a venue, how the budget is calculated, who replaces the arrangements, and how office, restaurant and hotel needs differ.

Fresh flowers in a venue are not a one off purchase but a recurring service, and they are costed differently from a gift bouquet. Here is how it actually works.

Every arrangement starts with frequency. Flowers are replaced weekly or fortnightly depending on the mix and the room temperature. In summer and near a window the cycle is shorter, in a cool winter lobby an arrangement easily holds two weeks. We bring the new one and take the old one away, the venue staff do nothing.

Needs differ more than people expect. An office usually wants one striking arrangement at reception and a few small ones in meeting rooms, and the key criterion is longevity because the space sits empty at weekends. A restaurant needs low height on tables so guests can see each other, and no strong scent competing with the food. A hotel wants a large lobby piece that holds for a full week, plus small in room arrangements on request.

The budget is calculated from the number of points and the frequency, not from the number of stems. It usually comes out as a predictable monthly figure you can plan around. We prepare a quote after seeing the space, because ceiling height, lighting and air conditioning influence the choice of flowers more than taste does.

A note on seasonality: we do not stick to a fixed mix but follow the season. It is cheaper and it looks more appropriate, since dahlias and chrysanthemums hold better in an autumn lobby, while peonies and tulips suit spring.

If you would like a quote for your venue, message us on Telegram or look at our flower subscription, which often works better for smaller offices.
