How to care for your bouquet — 7 tips from WTF! florists

How to extend bouquet life: water, chrysal, temperature, stem trimming. 7 practical tips from WTF! Dnipro florists.

A fresh bouquet is a living composition that needs attention. Follow a few simple rules and you'll add 1–2 weeks of life. Here are 7 tips from our florists — no magic, just experience.

1. First water. Cut the stem tips at a 45° angle under running water. It increases water uptake and removes blocked vessels.

2. Chrysal with every bouquet. Flower food contains sugar, acid and an antibacterial agent. At WTF! we drop a sachet into every bouquet and include the care card.

3. Clean vase. Wash the vase with warm soapy water before use. Bacteria are the main enemy of fresh flowers.

4. Water temperature. Cold for most flowers, lukewarm for roses (5–10 minutes at the start, then cold). Change the water every 2 days.

5. No sun, no drafts. Keep the bouquet shaded, away from radiators, AC vents and fruit — fruit gives off ethylene which speeds up wilting.

6. Trim the stems. Every 2–3 days trim 1–2 cm off. It restores water uptake to the flower head.

7. Strip leaves below the water line. Otherwise rot kicks in, spoils the whole vase and shortens the bouquet's life.

Follow these tips and your WTF! bouquet will last as long as possible. And if something feels off — message us, we'll always advise.
