Three ways to present flowers and the honest difference between them: how long each lasts, whether a vase is needed, and who to give which.
The same set of flowers can be presented in three ways, and the choice affects not only how it looks but how long it lives and what the recipient has to do the moment they receive it.
A classic bouquet lasts the longest, seven to fourteen days depending on the flowers. The reason is simple: the stems sit in water you can change, and the cut can be refreshed. The one real drawback is that a vase is needed, and needed within the first half hour. If you are giving flowers at an office, in a cafe or on the road, the vase becomes a problem.
A box solves exactly that. Inside sits floral foam soaked in water, and the flowers stand in it as they would in a vase. Nothing needs doing, the box simply goes on a table. Such an arrangement lives less, usually five to seven days: the foam releases water more slowly than the flowers drink. Extending it is easy, top up about half a glass of water straight into the foam every couple of days.
A basket is the same mechanism as a box, with more foam and a sturdier build. A basket will not tip over in a car, which is why it is the usual pick for hospital, office and event deliveries. It lasts the same five to seven days, with the same topping up.
The practical summary: for maximum life, when the recipient is at home, choose a bouquet. When there will definitely be no vase, choose a box. When you need something large, stable and safe in transit, choose a basket.
