Because the holiday falls on a weekend, schools celebrate in advance, on Friday October 2. That matters when ordering: the flowers are needed on Friday morning, not Sunday. We usually advise placing the order two or three days ahead, since demand for Friday morning compresses into a few hours.
The occasion differs in meaning from September 1. The first of September marks the start of the year and suits bright, festive arrangements, often from the youngest pupils. Teachers Day is closer to a professional holiday, so more restrained, grown up bouquets fit better, and congratulations extend beyond the class teacher to subject teachers and administration.
Hence a practical difference: on September 1 people usually give a bouquet each, while for Teachers Day it is both cheaper and more fitting to pool one shared gift from the class or the parent committee, and a more impressive one.
